Every year people die in the Grand Canyon because of heat stroke, dehydration, and misstep. Travelogue is about my solitary journey hiking to the bottom of the Canyon to return a prayer stick. The journey became a struggle beyond the normal demands of the hike. Travelogue was created during a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts. Working with black & white negatives, I toned several images violet/pink to reference the surreal quality of the place and journey, and the increase in ultra-violet rays reaching the earth. The audio component can be heard by pressing on last image on the page.
